⌈ CHARACTER SECTION ⌉

Character: Noctis Lucis Caelum
Age: Twenty
Canon: Final Fantasy XV
Canon Point: Chapter Nine: Callings

Background: Here
Personality: The best way to describe Noctis, without giving away too much of the plot; is awkward. He's woefully awkward at times but still manages to be quite charming and tenderhearted. He's the kind of character who looks the part of the brooding protagonist but he's actually a sweetheart who wants to defend both family and home.

Noctis tries to do everything in his power to overcome his personal limitations but in the same breath, he's quite lazy. A feeling of utter weariness and discontent clings to Noctis as he continues his quest producing an unbearable sense of ennui. He likes to sleep during his lessons and honestly seems unable or rather, unwilling, to pay attention to the world around him. While he does have his moments of clarity after his kingly father dies, Noctis still comes across as a brat sometimes. The boy lived a pampered life. He's a prince and with that comes a life of privilege with no sense of normalcy or responsibility. He doesn't know how to cook or clean and he doesn't even know how take care of himself. Noctis honestly is helpless in every sense of the word but it's a learned helplessness on his part. Noctis is a complete slob. He wakes up late unless coaxed out of bed, barely does his laundry and doesn't seem interested in being self-sufficient. It's not until he confronted by Ignis that Noctis actually tries to be a functional adult. While he might be terrible at cooking and even worse at managing his time, at least Noctis will try.

He's endearing in this sense. Noctis isn't above doing menial chores but he'll certain whine about doing it.

Noctis is a gentle soul who honestly suffers from self-esteem issues. He honestly prefers to befriend those outside of loyalty because he dislikes having to pretend to be all prim and proper. He just wants to be himself around friends, not the Prince of Lucis. That's why Noctis becomes such good friends with Prompto, his first friend outside of the palace. Noctis clings to Prompto's cheery optimism and sense of humor. He clings to it because he honestly needs someone to remind him that life isn't so terrible or dreary. Being a prince comes with it's luxuries but also with it's own set of unique problems. He fears the day he'll father will pass and honestly dreads becoming a king. Noctis has anxiety about becoming a ruler and doesn't believe he can handle it. That's why he likes not being reminded of his princely status and chooses to be "normal" around chipper people like Prompto. It eases the sense of dread he has.

Noctis is a well-meaning young man but he's also a tad sarcastic at times. The prince can be a royal brat whenever he's in a foul mood. Despite having a relatively good head on his shoulders, Noctis does have a habit of becoming too reckless for his own good. He'll charge head first into battle without much of a plan. Noctis gets all impatient and horribly brash but after a good talk, he gains his bearings again. His friends help keep him focused on the task at hand and often does Gladiolus and Ignis remind him of his duties as king. They push him to tread onward even when he sometimes feel as if he can't continue. Noctis would honestly be lost without his friends and he loves them dearly. The same could be for his relationship with Lunafreya.

Throughout the story line, Noctis and Lunafreya exchange notes between each other. She helps Noctis get in touch with his emotions and allows him to speak freely with no fear of judgment. The prince has difficulties with words sometimes. He isn't the one to speak his mind easily. Noctis tends to hold back his words out of respect but sometimes because of his stubbornness. His stubborn nature is what gets him into trouble often. Once he gets his mind on something, it's hard to get him to change it. Noctis can be very one track minded at times which is problematic. Though, sometimes having a single focus in mind actually works in Noctis's benefit. For instance, his drive to save his childhood friend Lunafreya from the clutches from the Empire eventually leads him to accept his role as the King of Light. His stubbornness gives him the will and power necessary to overcome his fear of death. Even though Noctis laments over the terrible fate that the Gods have given him, the prince doesn't allow his fears to take a hold. This doesn't mean he's fearless, Noctis certainly is too stubborn to give up.

Noctis isn't so much of a problematic child though. His royal upbringing tends to shine just from his body language alone. His posture, his poise and even his language gives away his royal lineage. Noctis is very 'proper' for the most part and has difficulties seeming normal. That is why Noctis is so awkward at times. He's pretending to be all 'cool' but he's honestly not. If anything, he's a quirky individual. He likes fishing, feeding cats, playing video games, and hanging out with his friends. Noctis is modest when it comes down to his royal status and isn't haughty.

While he does have a penchant for trouble, the prince knows when to cut the act and get serious.

Abilities:

  • Armiger Arsenal. Noctis can wield the mystic arms of his ancestors in battle, much like his father Regis. The Royal Arms, also known as the Armiger Arsenal, allows for Noctis to warp and teleport in combat giving him increased range and movement speed. It's also capable of giving Noctis a temporary increase in might in the form of summoning all thirteen arms together for a single collective strike. Each Armiger within the arsenal is represented by past Kings and Queens of the Lucis, and even his father's sword (The Sword of the Father) is among this list of mystical weaponry that ranges from a sword, to tridents, to also crossbows and shields.

Here is a full list of the Armiger Arsenal here.

  • Ring Magic. As the heir to the Crown of Lucis and the sole bearer of the Ring of the Lucii, Noctis is capable of utilizing the magic of the ring to defend himself in battle. These abilities are only capable through the power of the ring and none other than Noctis can wield this sort of magic. The Ring of the Lucii also signifies Noctis as the current 'Guardian of the Crystal' and allows him to understand the secrets of the Crystal as well as draw from its power. While the ring's powers are vast, they're also quite dangerous to the wielder. The magic that draws from the Crystal can drain the life-force of its wielder, much like what happened to his father when Regis created a magical shield over Insomnia to ward off Niflheim's invasion.

Here's a list of the magical abilities that the Ring of Lucii possesses below:

Death. Just like it sounds, this spell literally casts death upon a single enemy by draining that individual's life-force. It's a slow spell to activate that takes time to weaken stronger foes but over time, the target's body will become brittle and weaker as Noctis continues casting. This a brutal spell. Noctis can literally channel the Crystal's magic to steal life and hasten their aging to the point of death.

Holy. This spell gives Noct the ability to dodge or phase through attacks much like an apparition. It's a strange blue glow that engulfs the prince briefly as he counters his foes with a flash of blinding light. This spell is powerful and can honestly burn even the most harden foes.

Alterna. This particular magic is a spell that allows Noctis to banish his foes into an alternate dimension. It's the first spell of its kind in Final Fantasy but it's loosely based on some of the more powerful spells of the genre. Alterna is something of a time oriented spell that allows Noctis to suck in many enemies into this black hole-like entity that is literally a ripple through time and space.

  • Summons. After forming a pact with the Astrals, summoned beasts who act as Messengers of the Gods' divine will, Noctis can summon these creatures into battle. They don't come when command but when he gets a premonition of their arrival, the prince can summon them using the magic they gifted him.

Titan. The Archaean, steadfast as stone; is a powerful Astral that towers over mortal men. He is a behemoth that can rock the earth off its axis with powerful earthquakes.

Ramuh. The Fulgurian, sharp as lightning; is the wisest of the Six and the oldest. He commands lighting with his Ixion Scepter and makes it rain raw energy unto the Prince's foes. Always accompanied by a squall, Ramuh's fury rivals that of a storm.

Leviathan. The Hydraean, relentless as the tides; is a mighty sea seprent who rules the seas. Her fury is in the form of a mighty tsunami that drowns and destroy all in her wake. She is fierce, she is bold and also unforgiving.

Shiva. The Glacian, gentle as snow, is the embodiment of ice and cold. Once defeated and killed within the the outskirts of Niflheim, she returns to forge a pact with the Chosen King. Her icy chill can freeze even the hottest of flames. She is always accompanied with frost and her kisses give with a brutal chill.

Bahamut. The Draconian, unbending as iron; is the mightest only second to that of the Infernian, Ifrit. As the form of an gigantic dragon knight encased in thick armor, Bahamut cuts down his foes with enormous magical floating blades. He is the wielder of the legendary Ultima Sword and the prophet of the Crystal.

**Noct has yet to obtain Bahamut and Shiva yet storyline wise. I just wanted to add the five in briefly to describe what each astrals were.**

  • Fishing. Known as the Legendary NOCT-GAR among fellow fishing enthusiasts, Noctis is a bonafide pro in the fishing league. This man has the perfect cast, the patience and the strength to bait and rope the most allusive fish in all of Eos. Noctis is not be challenged by rookies seeking steal his fishy crown. He's a professional fisherman who owns one of the most coveted fishing reels and rods in all the realm: the Llymlaen Reel and Tranquility Rod.

  • Driving. Noct is a fairly decent driver even if he forgoes your standard driving regulations. The prince can get pretty reckless behind the wheel and easily go over 90 miles per hour just for the hell of it. However, he does manage to calm his inner speed demon well enough after getting reprimanded at by Ignis.

Alignment: I've chosen Peromei for Noctis because throughout his journey in Eos, he gets a taste of both despair and hope during his crusade.

Noctis first gives into despair after hearing of his father's death and the loss of his kingdom. He doesn't take the loss of his kingdom well, but he's expected to act as a beacon of hope for those who lost more than him. Throughout his story, Noctis must request the might of his ancestors to overcome perilous challenges that threaten to kill him. Peromei would greatly reflect Noctis' ongoing battle against the despair that clings to him and the hope he has in his heart.

    Emotion Sample:

Today was a bad day. A really bad day.

Noct could feel his bottom lip quiver a little as he stared off the balcony. The guys and him were staying at the local motel here on Verens. A quaint little inn that honestly reminds him of the Leville in Lestallum. The rooms are decent sized and the beds are pretty comfortable. Noct didn't have any complaints about his current arrangements. In truth, he really doesn't care too much. His mind is elsewhere.

This awful day starts with off without a hitch. It's a normal morning that consisted of Ignis dragging him out of bed and the guys bemoaning about breakfast. Your usual morning. The only thing that's different is the fact Noct seems distant. The prince has a habit for seeming aloof at times but today is different. He's quiet, eerily so and those bright blues didn't seem so blue today. Of course one of his colleagues asked him if he's 'alright' and Noctis just nods. The prince was silent silent as he made his way towards the balcony, his gaze downcast as he stares off onto space.

The sky is lovely today, all cheerful and blue. Verens seems to glow under the sunlight and there's not single cloud insight. It's a beautiful morning and yet it's all being wasted on upon the young man who stares longingly at the horizon.

A tense sigh escapes those quivering lips but not a single word. He breathes in deep and holds it for a moment. Seconds become minutes and minutes become too long for Noctis to hold his breath. He exhales and something akin to a painful groan leaves him. Gripping the smooth metal railing tight enough to make his hands ache, Noctis crumbles.

That cool and collect façade collapses all at once like withered old bridge. There's a misery so deep that sometimes it just can't be contained. His emotions finally caught up with him.

"It's not fair." The words leave his lips faster than he think. "None of it is." A sardonic chuckle follows briefly as he tries to keep some semblance of dignity about him. However, it's difficult to feel dignified when your seconds away from crying. He takes another breath and closes his eyes briefly until something wet touches his cheek. At first, he thought he was crying but it feels so cold almost like ice---

"Huh?" Noctis' eyes snap open that second only to find a strong thick blue mist swirling around his head. "The hell is this--" He mutters as his odd strange mist starts to grow bigger in size. It swirls all around him like blue smoke before eventually changing into an odd purple fume. Noctis watches in confusion as the mist grows larger and larger until it completely seizes him. That odd coldness he felt on his cheek suddenly enough him and the prince nearly doubles over from shock.

"W-What is this?!" He yells once the mysterious purple fumes begin to thicken. It keeps getting darker in hue until literally becomes as black as ink. This mist has become a black smog that threatens to choke the life out of Noctis. He fights against it in vain, blindly swatting at the air in hopes of pushing it off him but he can't. Not when the smog that suffocates him is his own emotions.

The helplessness, the loneliness, the despair, it's all him.

A pained sigh through gritted teeth alerts his friends but they come too late. That terrible black smog grows thicker and Noctis' eyes fall shut.

Questions: Only one thing: I used the same Armiger Arsenal explanation from my Regis Lucis Caelum [personal profile] kingslight app for Hadriel. Will that cause a problem? The words are my own since I wrote both applications myself.
